Start: Unmarked Campsite
What a day!!! We woke up at 6:20 am and were out of camp by 7:30 am. Today's profile looked like a mini roller coaster (I say mini because there is a "roller coaster" in VA with 13 peaks in 10 miles!!). We went up, then down, then up, then down, then up, then down, rested for 10 minutes near the Alec Kennedy Shelter, then up, then down, then up, then down. Then the profile looked flat!!! I was excited until I found us walking 1.5 miles in cornfields at noon in the hot sun. Oh, and there were TWO "rock mazes" mixed in there! All of this in 8.1 miles!!! The knee brace that Brian made me REALLY helped! My knee didn't feel perfect, but with all the descents today, it kept the pain to a minimum. That's why I love him! ; ) After the cornfields we were in Boiling Springs, PA. The first thing we did was eat pizza (of course)! It seems that the more miles we walk, the better the pizza tastes! We are spending the night at the Allenbury. The Allenbury is a resort type place that has a pool, a theater, a bar and grill, and laundry facilities. It is usually $159 a night, but for hikers it is $40 a night!!! Awesome deal! So now we are fed, showered, laundry is in and we are relaxing. Ahhhhh, trail life!!!
One last thought.... 2 months from today we will summit Katahdin!!!!!
End: Allenbury Resort, Boiling Springs, PA
