Journey of a Freed Spirit: 800 Miles of the Appalachian Trail (Summer 2012)

The Adventure...

Last year, on June 23, my husband Brian (Daddy Long Legs) and I left Harpers Ferry and started to walk north. Our intended destination was Mount Katahdin in northern Maine. We knew that walking the 1,166.9 miles in 10 weeks was a lofty goal, but we were up for the challenge. We made it as far as Mt. Washington in NH. Along the way, we experienced life in a way we never have before. The friends we made, the views we enjoyed, and the experiences we had were far better than we could've ever imagined.

This year, we will be setting out from Mt. Washington's summit on July 29. We will once again, put one foot in front of the other and head north. Our goal is to end our journey on top of Mount Katahdin by the end of August.

Ideally, we would love to thru hike the Appalachian Trail, but unfortunately due to work we are unable to at this time. It is in our plans for the future, but being that we work in schools and have the summers off, why not section hike it now, right?

We are extremely excited where this path will lead us... You know, other than Mount Katahdin!
